Dear Janet:I also descend from Ann Lingan, but through her first husband, Elias Boudinet Caldwell, first District Attorney of Washington (D. C.).Her second husband, was John Bartlett, from whom you descend, I think. If my information is correct, this John Bartlett was the son or nephew of Josiah Bartlett, who signed the Declaration of Independence.
I have been to General James McCubbin Lingan's and Janet Henderson Lingan's gravesite in Arlington National Cemetery. For anyone looking for it in the future, it is Section 1, Lot 89A, Grid JK-32.It is a VERY large impressive monument.
I have had questions in my past research about Thomas Lingan and Martha Cockshutt.I had Martha Cockshutt's parents as Reverend Thomas Cockshutt and Ann (Richardson) Hall.I had not heard of the (Normansell) name before your posting.
