Dear Karen: I believe you are right. We are talking about two different James Lingo s.
I have that James Stuart Lingo m. Sarah Smith in 1802
and I don't have a place where they were married, but surely it was in Sussex County, Delaware or Lincoln County, Tennessee. Sarah died on January 22,1845 and is buried at Eldad, The sourse of her death and burial are in the Eldad Records, but I can't find a stone for her at Eldad, but many stones are too old to be read. James Stuart Lingo d. on January 1, 1848 in Macon County, Missouri and I believe he was up there with his son by his 1st marriage, Judge Samuel Sanders Lingo. I do not know where James S. Lingo is buried and neither does anyone else as far as I know. I descend from the last daughter Martha E. Lingo Holman and she was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee and then they came to Randolph County, Mo. and help start Eldad Church. And at Eldad is where she met her husband to be, William Carol Holman and they are my great grandparents, and both are buried at Eldad and they have good stones that you can read.
I don't think my ancestors were in Ohio. Not that I know about. So sorry. I was reading something I wrote a long time ago and I said that James Stuart Lingo and Sarah Smith had 12 children, but I meant that James S. Lingo and his first wife (unknown) had 2 boys and 1 girl and the Girl was Mary and she m. Judge Turner and they were at Eldad too, and the boy was Judge Samuel Sanders Lingo who also m. a lady named Sarah Smith and another son, which was mentioned in a newspaper article, but no one knows what happaned to him; and then James S. Lingo and his second wife Sarah Smith had 10 more children. So actually my Marhta was his 13th child, but the one son is unaccounted for and I do not even have his name. Regards
