Ron, It's not likely they are the same William. My William was in Lincoln Co, NC in 1797 and married to Nancey Boyd. They had 2 children John Adam born 1800 and Mary born later. Both children were bonded out in 1815 as orphans of William. Nancey had an illegitimate child named James Linn sometime before 1815. don't know what happened to him. Nancey remarried to Daniel Nolenaround 1821. I haven't been able to find a trace of her after that. We're assuming William died around 1812. The descendants mostly stayed in the general area. I was hoping that the William Linn who fought at Kings Mtn was the same, since that is close to where my Linn lines have lived for 7 generations. However, I am keeping an open mind since I have found no other info concerning our William. I have 3 brothers so may resort to DNA testing to try and get past our brick wall which is William.
