I'm looking for proven direct descendants of Linns/Lynns who lived in and about Irvine in the 18th and 19th centuries. Some of these are: John, son of Alexander and Margaret Lynn, born about 1860 in Irvine George, son of Alexander and Margaret Lynn, born about 1851 in Dundonald Alexander, father of the above, born about 1827 in Riccarton Arthur Linn, blacksmith apprentice, who was born in Maybole about 1844 Archibald Linn born about 1832-36 in Irvine John, son of John Lynn and Ann Cochran, baptized 1820 in Ardrossan James Linn, son of John Linn and Janet Finlay or Findlay, baptized 1777 in Riccarton John Linn, son of John Linn and Janet Finlay or Findlay, baptized 1780 in Riccarton James, son of Thomas Lin or Lind and Mary Hill, baptized 1769 in Kilmarnock Charles Linn, who died 27 Nov 1749 in Kilmarnock William Linn, son of Hugh Linn and Sarah Smith, baptized 1745 in Riccarton John Linn, son of John Linn and Barbara Currie, baptized 1733 in Riccarton Hugh Linn, son of John Linn and Barbara Currie, baptized 1737 in Riccarton John, son of Hugh Linn and Isabel Spark, baptized in Irvine in 1718 Hugh Lin of Corshill, Kilwinning, who was made a burgess of Irvine in 1665 William Lin or Lyne, who was an Irvine burgh councillor in 1664-1665 and died sometime after 1679 Henry Lin, Lyn, or Lyne, merchant, burgess, and baillee of the burgh of Irvine during the years 1645-80, who married Marion Broune Williame Lyne in Sewaltoun, whose testament was registered in 1615 Many (though certainly not all) the Linns/Lynns of Ayrshire likely descend from the Lynns of that Ilk in Dalry. There are many more besides those listed above, but these lived in or closest to Irvine, where the last Lynn of that Ilk died in 1671. I believe the Lynns of that Ilk are my ancestors, and I'd like very much to hear from anyone who descends from any of the above and might be interested in DNA tests. My email address is Lynneage@h-o-l.com. Notify Administrator about this message?
