My Lints are of a later generation and I can't really prove the connection to the Lints in Lancaster Co. to Somerset Co., PA. Jacob Lint was found on the 1850 census for Ligonier, Westmoreland Co., PA with his wife, Catherine (SNYDER?). With them was my great great grandfather, Cyrus ("John") SHOLEY. He was listed as the 4 year old grandson to Jacob and Catherine LINT and the 1900 census lists him as born March 1846, the bible lists the 8th day. A bible owned by an older woman (I'll never get it, she has daughters) lists Catherine Elizabeth Lint married to George Michael Shawley (Sholey). He may have died before "John" was born, because within a short time of his son's birth, his widow married Louis SHOUP, 8 Jan. 1847. They remained in Westmoreland Co. There is one record for land in Ligonier that lists Cyrus SCHOLLEY in 1889. Others have John SHOLEY, John SHOLLY, in the same area. Strange, my grandmother, maiden name Sholey, emphatically told me the name was always spelled Sholey (despite her own marriage record having Sholly). I believe Jacob was a son of Conrad, Jr. But now I see there is a second Jacob of the same generation, so I wonder if you might know which would be the father of Jacob Lint, born about 1786? Located on 1850 Ligonier, Westmoreland Co., PA census as 4 years old. He lived with the Jacob LINT family. Household 361, family 361, page 32. Jacob was 66, a male, farmer, and born in PA. Catherine was 63. William was 26, a laborer, and born in PA. Benjamin was 23, laborer, and born in PA. Josiah was 15. Cyrus Shawley was 4 and born in PA. [grandson] David Howard was 34, a shoemaker, and born in PA. Peggy was 34 and born in PA. Betsy was 9 and born in PA. George was 4 and born in PA. Uppleon was 2 and born in PA.
