dear Amy
your first maessage was from my son Damien who is in canada at the moment he is trying to collect info re any other Lipmans out there His grandfather lived in London as a child and his name was Leonard one of four brothers.He was sent to Australia as a young man at the start of WW1 but returned to the UK married and lived in Leeds until his death in 1946. Hope this is a help.
