Since a codicil is an additional bequest or stipulation to a will without necessitating the rewriting of the entire will, we can only assume that Margaret Whitaker's bequest was overlooked or forgotten when the will was first written.We shouldn't assume that all children are supposed to be mentioned in a will.There is no such law nor has there ever been.It is generally done today but historically was rarely done.The bulk of Alice Lisle's children are not mentioned in her will.The disinherited son is not mentioned at all.
