Dear Roni,
You are a wonder! This is definitely the family of my wayward g-g-grandfather. Not only does my g-grandfather Littlewood have far more family than I imagined, but the mystery of a memento found in his effects appears to be solved: a memorial "ribbon" reading "In loving memory of Hannah, relict of the late Henry Moss, who died September 21st, 1917, aged 83 years. And was this day interred at St. Luke's Church, Milnsbridge. 24, William Street, Crosland Moor, Sept. 25th, 1917." This must be his Aunt Hannah Littlewood, whose birth year was 1834, according to the census.
But now I notice that John has no brother George to whom he wrote the unmailed note about his flight to America, though perhaps another son was born following the 1851 census.
Might you be available for hire to delve further into these records? Please contact me at [email protected], if you are interested.
