Hello Marilyn,
There seems to be no birth record for a Mary Ann Beals approx. 1840-1 in the BMD index. The 1871 census gives her birthplace as St. Johns Exeter. It's possible thather birth was not registered or Beals was not her birth name.
I have brief notes of the Livermore family from the various censuses but at the time I neglected to transcribe the records.Henry Livermore (b1841) was in Exeter in 1861.Then in 1871 he and his wife Mary Ann with 5-year-old son Henry were at Alphington St, St Thomas, Devon. In 1881 Henry Sr was dead and I could not find Mary Ann, but young Henry had joined the military and was at Infantry Camp 2, Colchester, Essex.I found a record in the BMD that indicates that the widowed Mary Ann Livermore remarried in Exeter in 1885.
The widowed Elizabeth Livermore that appears in 1871 on Alphington St could be part of the same household. If you have a copy of the census image you can look down the left hand side where the household numbers are recorded, and determine if in fact she resides at the same address as the Livermores on the next page.
There is a Cheeke St in the St.Sidwells area of modern Exeter.I also looked at several sources and found the following:
1. Julia Livermore, parents Thomas Livermore and Eliza
Christening: 30 DEC 1828 Holy Trinity, Exeter
2. Charlotte Livermore, parents Thomas Livermore and Eliza
Christening: 01 MAY 1831 Saint Sidwell, Exeter
3. Mary Livermore, parents Thomas Livermore and Eliza
Christening: 31 AUG 1833 Saint Sidwell, Exeter
Death:04 SEP 1833
4. Thomas Livermore, parents Thomas Livermore and Eliza
Christening: 31 AUG 1833 Saint Sidwell, Exeter
Death:04 SEP 1833
5. Thomas Livermore, parents Thomas Livermore and Elizabeth
Christening: 16 DEC 1834 Saint Sidwell, Exeter,
6. Mary Anne Livermore, parents Thomas Livermore and Eliza
Christening: 19 MAR 1837 Saint Sidwell, Exeter
I verified the births of William John 14.9.1839 and Maria 12.4.1844 in the General Register Office index as born in Exeter.
Looks like Henry Livermore the elder had a large family.
