R. Wayne Livesay, 59, TN, obituary
R. Wayne Livesay, 59, went to be with Jesus Thursday, June
11, 2009.
He was saved at an early age and was a member of Briar
Creek Baptist Church in Hancock County.
He was employed with the Morristown Police Department for
28 years and retired as a captain in June 2006. He was a
veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his father, A. J. Livesay; and
stepfather, Eldridge Elkins.
He is survived by son, A. Wayne Livesay, of Morristown,
TN; daughter, Misty (James) Ellis of Bulls Gap, TN;
mother, Ruby Elkins of Morristown, TN; and best friend and
the love of his life Linda Wilder; sister, Brenda (Don)
Covington of Morristown, TN; brother, Bruce (Marlena) of
Clarksville, TN; 4 grandchildren who were his sunshine,
Chase, Shana, Destiny and Asa Jamie Rhea; step-mother,
Ruth Collins, of Morristown, TN; step-brothers, Raymond,
Robert, Paul, Wayne, and Harvey Elkins, all of Morristown,
TN; step-sisters, Shirley Webber and Wanda Howard of
Morristown, TN; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the
members of the Morristown Police Department and the
employees of the Hamblen County Clerks Office.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 12, 2009, in
the chapel of Stetzer Funeral Home from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. As
he always wanted, he will finally go back home to the
place he loved dearly.
The funeral service will be Saturday, June 13, 2009, at
Briar Creek Baptist Church in Hancock County at 10 a.m.
with the Rev. Tommy Seals officiating. The body will lie
in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
The Morristown Police Department will serve as honor guard
and the Charlie Shift will be pallbearers.
Interment will follow in the Briar Creek Church Cemetery.
