Family History
Hi Gloria,
Thanks for your message - it's nice to hear from you.
I have a company called Dragon Tours which specializes in small group tours of Wales. I sometimes put together packages for people who are coming over to trace their family history. I also offer a genealogy tracing service for these people and for those who can't make it over here.
Since I have some material on CD Rom I am also happy to offer a free lookup service, so if your husband's family are on the 1851 Census for Glamorganshire (the most densly populated part of Wales) or in the 1881 Census for the whole of Wales I may be able to find them. If so I can also suggest where you go from there.
However, I would need some more information to narrow the search. Since the Llewellyn surname is less common than some Welsh surnames the search is, potentially, easier, however without knowing what region William was from or without some additional information about his siblings or parents it is difficult to proceed. For example, there are 99 William Llewellyn's, born in 1839, listed in the Glamorganshire census of 1851 alone. If you do have any more information or clues about William please send them to me and I'll see what I can find.
Do you know whether William lived in Norway? You said he married out there. Did they then move to that US or did they live in Wales. If he did leave Wales do you know when this was?
Please feel free to contact me at anytime. I enjoy this and am always keen to hear from people with Welsh connections. It sounds as though you've done a marvellous thing for your husband.
If you ever come to Wales or you know anyone who may wish to come here you may be interested in looking at my web-site

Best Wishes
Mike

Dr.Mike Davie:
Dear Sir: I saw your postings on genealogy.com and was so overwhelmed by your generousity !! My husband is 62yr old and was raised in an orphanage. For the last 5yrs. I have spent researching his family and I was wondering if you could help us. So far I have managed alot for him , parents , grandparents and even grt.grndpts. I do know his grt-grt grandfather was William Llewellyn born in Wales in 1839 and married Elizabeth Garret b.1840 in Norway . If you could find anything on these people it would be so wonderful. If you are to busy or unable to ,we truely understand and I want to thank-you for your time.
Thank you,
Gloria Secrest
