Since this is almost certainly William Lobdell b. ca 1769 (in J H Lobdell, SIMON LOBDELL 1646... AND HIS DESCENDANTS, p 27), who m. Elizabeth Todd and whose eldest daughter (born in the 1790s) was Peggy (=Margaret), the most reasonable supposition from the Lobdell side would be that Elizabeth Todd Lobdell was the (much?) older sister of Margaret Todd Jennings, and young Peggy named after her child aunt (Peggy rather than Margaret). That would make William the uncle of the young Jennings boys -- if this fits in with all your research on the Jennings and Todd lines? The fact that William Lobdell was from Warwick, Orange County NY, and was married there about the time of his father's death (1792) may be significant if Warwick to Palmyra or Wayne Countyparallels your Jennings and Todd movements.I'll be interested to know if anyone has more direct evidence on this.
