I am very excited to tell you that the Lock / Locke DNA project is underway.
Lock / Locke men carry a Y gene passed down from the father to his sons, generation to generation, quite often the gene is passed down as a duplicate gene to the son. The Y gene can mutate, not an exact match. Anway this project concentrates on the Y gene passed down from father to son.
Please read the information on the FTDNA web site, they can explain it far better then I can.
I am no professional on this matter, but the gist of it, if enough Lock(e)'s from every branch participate in this project, we can get a clearer picture which clans are and which clans are not related. Some results may be common knowledge, yeah I knew I wasn't related to them. But the shocker could be, wow I didn't know my line shared a common ancestor with that clan. Even if that shared common ancestor was 100 generations ago. This testing will give us new leads for us to follow up on. Even if your not a researcher, but wish to help the project, please do! Every Lock(e) man who participates is helping the cause.
I was asked to get at least 6 men from my own lineage to participate, so I will be talking to many of you in the near future :)
