Hi. There was apparently a group of families from St. Mary's Co (and Charles Co?) MD who went to NC with Rev. Hatch Dent, Zachariah Higgs, and others possibly for religious purposes. Among them were SUIT/SUITE, LOCKE/LOCK, SOTHORON, CLARKE, HIGGS, DENT, BRUCE, EDWARDS and other inter-related and intermarried families. This happened in the mid to late 1700's.

Some of my SUIT family went to Granville, Warren, and Halifax counties of NC and descendants are still there today.

The other day I was reading a book on Scots-Irish in NC and saw a Francis Locke mentioned who lived in what was then Rowan Co NC and is buried with another Locke (I fortet which- maybe a John or Wm?) at a place called Thyatira. Were they from the Locke's who came with Rev. Hatch Dent. They were in the Rev in NC.
