Hi Don. I think my Suite/Suit family is connected to Locke/Lock in Granville Co and vicinity.

Meverell Locke/Lock owned a certain parcel of land at one point called "Price's Rest" which was in my family until shortly before the Civil War.

I do know that we had some Suit/Suite (same family) memebers marry Lock/Locke fmaily members in Granville Co NC and I believe they are also from Meverell Locke.

My James Suit is somewhat of a mystery. DEnt Suite/Suit did come to NC but died leaving a will in St.Mary's MD in 1792, but was in the 1790 census for Granville Co. NC.
Not sure where he physically died at. He named 3 sons in his will.

I think my James Suite was probably son of a William Suite/Suite who came to NC in the 1770's or 1780's. James was born in the 1750's. I believe Richard Suite who d. 1801 in Halifax Co Nc was James' 1/2 brother but I have not proved this yet.

The SUIT/SUITE, LOCK, LOCKE, EDWARDS, SOTHORON, CLARKE/CLARK, HIGGS/HICKS, SHEMWELL/SHAMWELL, DENT, and possibly BURROUGHS, BRUCE, and a few more allied families seemed to migrate to NC around the same time in the mid to late 1700's.

I just wish I had more time to get to the archives in Raleigh to get more info.

Thanks for thinking about me.

Bonnie
