Thadeus Stephen Lockelier's father, Stephen Lockelier, was on the 1850 Census in St. Stephens Parish, GA at age 28 with his wife Mary age 19 and two daughters, Gabriella age 2 and Margaret age 1.The family is listed as mulatto but in 1860 they are again on the census with no such designation.Stephen Locklear age 37 is a farmer with his wife Mary age 30, Gabriella 14, Margaret 12, Elizabeth 10, Thadeus age 6, James age 4, and Ellen age 1.In 1870 Stephen Le Clair is age 40, Mary is age 38, Elizabeth is 18, Thaddeus is 13, James is 11, Ella is 9, Harriet is 7 and Hutchinson is 5.In 1880 James Locklear is listed as head of household.He is a teamster. Mary, the mother is 60, and Thadeus is now listed as Stephen, age 25 and is an overseer in the turpentine industry.In 1900, Hutchinson Locklear, is HH in the 36th Military District in Screven County GA.He is 27, working as a teamster and married to Sarah A. (Addie)(Mock)age 22. They have been married 5 years and have2 boys, George S.(Steaven) and Thomas M. (Mock).Living with them is James, brother of Hutchinson, age 35, and his 3 children, Willie F.9, Maggie 15, and Gertrude 7.James is a laborer in timber. By 1910, Hutchinson is dead and Sarah has married
Samuel Partridge, had another son, Eugene, age 8, and has her other two boys with her, listed as George Lockliear 13, and Thomas Lockliear age 11.They are living in Charleston, SC.When Samuel died, Sarah married again and they moved to NC.George's descendants still live in NC.There is more to the story and if you are interested, let me know.
