Hello Joyce,

I hope that your move has gone smoothly and that you are now comfortably in your new home.

Thought I send this message of the information I have on the Lockley's and Sillitoes, which isn't necessarily much.

We begin with the Lockley's:-

Thomas Lockley, who we know almost nothing about, apart from the fact that he had at least a couple of sons:-

1 - George Lockley - born 1849 or 50, in either America (from the 1881 Census), South America (from the 1891 Census) or Wolverhampton (from the 1901 Census). More information later.

2 - William Arnold Lockley - born 1874 or 5, in Nuneton, Warwickshire (from the 1901 Census). The only other information that is know about William is from the 1901 Census, when he is living with his brother George at Forge House, St Pauls Road, Wednesbury, Staffordshire, and was working as a Railway Engine Fireman. Died ?

There might also be a third son John Locley, who was a witness at George Lockley's wedding in 1871.

Returning to George Lockley, born 1849 or 50, went on to marry Susannah Simms (sometimes called Hannah or Susanna) on the 5th March 1871 at the Parish Church of St George, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. At the time of his marriage he was living in Whalf Street, Wolverhampton and was working as a plater. At this time he said his father was Thomas Lockley who was a Bricklayer. Following his marriage they then had seven know children:-

a) Alice Lockley - Born 1872 or 3 in Wolverhampton Stafforshire. In the 1891 Census she was working as a Warehouse Girl (Edge tool). Died ?

b) Francis Geroge Lockley (Frank) - Born 1873 or 4 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. In the 1891 Census he was working as a Heater - Edge Toolmaker and in the 1901 Census as a Plater - Ironmaker. Died ?

c) Mary Ann Lockley - Born 15th April 1876 at 53, Forge Lane, Wednesbury, Staffordshire. At the time of the 1881 Census she was living at 1, Colliery Cottages, Aldridge, Staffordshire, with Francis Ball and his wife Harriet, and their children Eliza, Mary Ann, and Susannah. In the 1901 Census she was working as a Warehouse Girl. Died ?

d) George Lockley (Partner's Great Grandfather)- Born 1878 or 9 in Woodgreen, Wednesbury, Staffordshire. In the 1901 Census he was working as a Heater - Ironworker. (See below)

e) Harriet Lockley - Born 1880 in Woodgreen, Wednesbury, Staffordshire. In the 1901 Census she was working as a Warehouse Girl. Died ?

At the time of the 1881 Census the family was living at 32, Woodgreen, Wednesbury, Staffordshire and George was a Hoe Plater.

f) John T Lockley - Born 1885 or 6 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire. In the 1901 Census he was working as a Heater - Ironworker. Died ?

At the time of the 1891 Census the family was living at Forge House, St Pauls Road, Wednesbury, Staffordshire and George was an Edge Tool Plater.

g) Ralph E Lockley - Born 1894 or 5 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire. Died ?

At the time of the 1901 Census the family was still living at Forge House, St Pauls Road, Wednesbury, Staffordshire and George was Plater - Ironworker. At present no more is know about George Lockley. Died ?

Of George Lockley (Partners Great Grandfather) - Born 1878 or 9 in Woodgreen, Wednesbury, Staffordshire, he went on to marry Catherine Sillitoe on the 20th January 1902 at All Saints Church, Moxley, Staffordshire. At the time of his marriage he was living at St Pauls, Wednesbury, Staffordshire and was working as a Plater. At this time he said his father was Geogre Lockley who was working as a Plater. Following their marriage they then had two children:-

i) Lily Lockley - Born 18th August 1902 at 27 Kingsley Street, Walsall, Staffordshire. She married widower Herbert Cope (born 1885?) on the 2nd March 1940, at St John's Church, Pleck, Walsall, Staffordshire. At this point she was living at 85, Kingsley Street, Walsall. At this time she said her father was George Lockley, who was a Forgeman. Died 1968?

Catherine then went on to married George Lockley on the 20th January 1902, (see above). At the time of her marriage she was living in Moxley, and said that her father was John Sillitoe, who she said was a Farmer. Died 15th August 1961 at 85, Kingsley Street, Walsall, Staffordshire.

At the time of the 1881 Census the family was resident at Chadwell Court, Sheriff Hales, Shropshire and John was a Farm Baliff.

e) Thomas Sillitoe - Born 1882 or 3 in Chadwell, Shropshire. In the 1901 Census he said he was working as an Electrican. Died ?

f) Ada Mary Sillitoe - Born 1885 or 6 in Chadwell, Shropshire. Died ?

At the time of the 1901 Census the family (apart from Henry, whose has yet to be located) was resident at 137, The Green, Darlaston, Staffordshire and John said he was a Retired Farmer.

I hope this is of some use in identifying the owner of the photo's. Please feel free to e-mail me if I can help further.

Carol
