The body of Edgar WILLHELM, 86, who died Sunday night night in a rest home here, has been taken to Paris, Texas, for funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday in Roden Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Willhelm was a retired West Texas school teacher and stock farmer. Survivors are four sons, Glenn WILLHELM of Denver, Colo., Arch WILLHELM of Fort Worth, Fred WILLHELM of Phoenix, Ariz., and Arthur WILLHELM of Lodi, Cal.; three daughters, Mrs. L.R. ALEXANDER of Seattle, Wash., Miss Ollie WILLHELM of Chicago and Miss Beatrice WILLHELM of Santa Anna; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie PHILLIPSs and Mrs. Alice HAYWOOD of Brady; a brother, Joe WILLHELM of Lampasas; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

William Edgar WILLHELM was born in Bell County, Texas on August 28, 1869 and died July 1, 1956 at 8:45 p.m. in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 86 years, 10 months, four days. NOTE: Edgar used three "L's" in his surname unlike some of his family.
PARENTS:Edgar was the second son of William Welcome (Welk) WILHELM (1843-?) born in Hamilton County, TN.With his brother Arch, Welcome joined and served in the Army of the Confederacy with Co. C - 15th (Northwest) Arkansas Infantry and saw battle at Corinth, Pea Ridge/Elk Horn, and Vicksburg.His parents removed from Franklin County, Arkansas to Texas the duration of the Civil War. Welk later met/married Mary Elizabeth COWAN (1843-1894) at Florence, Williamson County, Texas on December 20, 1866.Mary was the dau. of Wm. Flemon COWAN and Mary Ann PRIM.In 1883 when faced with hanging for a possible murder charge, Welk sadly abandoned his wife and five young children. SPOUSE:Rebecca Orlena HURLEY married William Edgar WILLHELM on December 8, 1889 at her home in Katemcy, Mason County, Texas by a Rev. Black of the Methodist faith.

May (ALEXANDER) 1898 - 1989;
Olive 1901 - 1990;
Arthur 1904 - 1991; and
