Sorry, I had responded and the system kicked me out before I had time to send it. Then I had to have minor eye surgery and that kept me out of the computer for a while. However, I'm back now and excited about your input.
In response to your questions, Daniel and Nancy did stay in Halifax County. He probably died during one of the years that the records no longer exist due to destruction during the civil war. She is on later census reports beyond 1830, etc.
The Wm., Martin and Wm Jr. were not lines that I have followed very deeply up to this time. Halifax Co. is close to Rockingham co. NC so I would not have been surprised. The properties bought by them in the southern district of the County are in the Hyco, Hyco River areas which are close to the State line [which was not so definitive in the late 1700's].
Even today there is a lot of movement into those NC areas, and movement back as well.
The will of Wm Loftis was not copied by me, but I did read it. There is a summary in the South Boston Public Library books and the one in the Clerk's office is pretty ragged. It is the very last will in Will Book O. He died in 1773. I'll look through my notes (when I can find them) and see if I noted the date of execution and probate.
I have snippets of info, but not sure if it is at all connected.
