George Loman, et al

I'm in the early stages of this, so I've only been able to go back as far as George Loman, who was born in 1819 and married Barbara Apple. Don't know where he lived, or much of anything else for that matter. The line from George continues with Jerry P. Loman (b. 2/4/1855) to Richard Chalmer Loman (b. 3/12, 1889 in Greensboro, NC.) to Cleve E. Loman (b. 6/25/1909), to Cleve E. Loman Jr (b. 7/29/1933) to me, Daniel K. (b. 7/6/61). I would really like to find out where the Lomans came from. There is some dispute among some of the family. Some say the Lomans came from Scotland (Loch Lomond and all that), and others say we're from Ireland.
Any help would be hugely appreciated, and I'll be glad to share whatever I have.
