Loman / Phillips / Hale / Wolfe / Amer. Indian connection
My GrGrandfather's name was George Franklin Loman. He had several children. I was told that one of his children looked like the "Wolf" side of the family. I didn't know we had any "Wolf" relatives.
George was born 11 June 1861 in Hillsboro, Texas or N.C. and married Mary Elizabeth Hale 30 Sept 1891 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Mary's mother was Sarah Jane Phillips.
I understand George was half Indian ("choctaw"...maybe ?). I was wondering if his Mom was a "Wolf" and was a full blooded Indian.
I was told that George's parents boarded a train and headed for Texas when the civil war broke out. George was born the day after his parents arrived in Hillsboro, Texas. His Dad had a sister that was married to a man by the last name of Montgomery that lived around Hillsboro and had a big cattle ranch. This aunt took care of George and his siblings for awhile after his parents died. I have no clue who the siblings of George are. Or "if" he had any siblings. This sister and her husband left Hillsboro and George lived with a Captain Hightower for awhile. Then, he followed the rail lines and met Mary. He then farmed around McAlester, Oklahoma until he died in 1905.
I have never been able to find out who his parents were. Both died at the same time of a great tradgedy. The family would never talk about it. George was very young (either 4 or 14) when his parents died.
George also had an Uncle that was a Morman. He had several wives. When having several wives became illegal in the U.S., he moved his families to Mexico. This was around 1880, give or take a few years.
IF any of this sounds familiar...PLEASE get in touch with me.
