I have an Elizabeth Schweitzer born to Jacob Schweitzer and married Adam Lohmann. Jacob came over from Germany with brother Franz October 13, 1764 on the King of Prussia and settled in Guilford Co., N.C. Jacob appeared in Guilford Co. land records in 1793. It gets confussing because there was a John who signed for son Jacob to marry in 1796. Most males born in Germany were named John, the oldest most of the time went by John and the rest went by their middle names such as Johann Hendrich went by Henry, Johann Wilhelm went by William and so on. When they came to America and went out on their on, alot of them reverted back to the first name John.
