Thanks for your reply.

It would be lovely to find a connection, and there may well be somewhere along the line, but from what you have told me the William George HOUGHTON you have in your line and mine are born too far apart as the one in my family was not born until 1856, although he was christened at St Leonards Shoreditch. My Houghton's stayed very much to the City but never in one place for too long and have been very difficult to find on Census returns.

I have e-mailed you seperately with details I have on my HOUGHTON's. As you can see Henry's father was William Henry HOUGHTON and his father another William. I have not been able as yet to get any further back.

If you ever find a connection do get in touch and I will keep you in mind if I find anything.
