Look up: Benjamin Isaacs in London before 1871

I only know that Benjamin lived at 32 Penton Place, apparently in Clerkenwell, at the 1871 census, but where he lived before that I don't know.  He was aged 34 & married to Elizabeth 33.

He was a cabdriver, mobile in trade & apparently in residence.  In the next three census years he moved to Pentonville Road, then St Pancras & onto Islington, all north of the river. He says he was born in London, Strand & Mile End in three census forms.

I said apparently in Clerkenwell because I did not think that it went south of the river, but Penton Place is well south, about 1kM south of the Elephant & Castle.  However, St James, Clerkenwell is what is on the 1871 census form.

In the light of the above, Benjamin could be anywhere in London before 1871. If you are able to cast the net much wider than Clerkenwell, then I would be much obliged.

Any information about birth, parents, marriage or Census reports would be welcomed to break an obstinate brickwall.

Thank you.

Hayfield
