Dear Dick,
Thank you for your prompt response. I will be writing to you soon to give you my address, and I will start canvassing among my online Longnecker cousins to see if the would also be interested in participating. The descendants of one of the grandson's of Andrew and Elizabeth Longnecker hold a Family Reunion in Iowa every year, which might prove helpful. I do know that one of the original 17th C. Langeneggars from Switzerland was named Andrew, or Andreas from a genealogy site I visited. I think Andreas is also the form of the name Andrew that is used in Germany and Switzerland as well as Greece. But don't quote me on it.
Name similarities when doing genealogical research can either be a blessing, or a curse, I've found, especially the first names! My ancestors, for the most part, seemed to have been pretty unimaginative in the late 18th and early 19th century when it came to naming their children.
