Husband of Margaret Mary Longstreth of St. Louis, MO
I would like to learn the identity of the Longstreth who married Margaret Mary ???, who went by "Maggie". Maggie was born in 1849 or a few years earlier (she routinely shaved some years off her reported age and more years were removed as she got older) in NY according to several federal census listings. She married a Longstreth from PA. They had moved to MO by 1873 when their first son, Charles Robert Longstreth, was born (May 25, 1873). A second son, Walter James Longstreth, was born May 11, 1877. The husband had died by the time of the 1880 census. The widow and her two sons continued to live together in St. Louis from 1880 through at least 1920. It is possible that the sons were born a year of two earlier than noted above because, according to census records, they, like their mother, aged less rapidly than most of us. (The birth dates are a best guess based on 1880 census and WWI draft registration.) No indication has been found that the mother remarried, or either son married. The father in question would be a Longstreth, probably born 1840-1850 in PA, and died 1876-1880 in Missouri. Very likely his marriage to Margaret Mary ?? occurred 1870-1873.
