We believe that they came from that general area -- but when? They were in Ireland in about 1800, so they would have migrated before that time. We find one about 1647 in a town in France up next to the Belgium border, but do not know who he is. OUR and HIS line goes back into Franklin Co. Penn. and before that from Cumberland Co., Pa. or Chesterfield Co., Va..
There is another line in the U.S. that goes back to Maine about 1880 and then back to New Brunswick, Canada and then back to Ireland about 1800. We have lots of family lore, but trying to find the documentation has been a struggle.
