Lana, the James Loper of Spencer, Indiana, in not the same James as the one in Greenup, Kentucky. They died at different times. Here is some information that I have for the Spencer, Indiana Lopers that might help.
1850 Census Huff, Spencer, Indiana
1140 1141 Wm L. Loper 33M Farmer Pa
Francis 29F Oh
James 63 M Farmer NJ
1860 Census Huff, Spencer, Indiana, p. 88
640 636 Wm F Loper 43M Farmer Pa
Francis 32F Oh
Henry F 9M Ind
Josephine 7F Ind
George 6M Ind
Mary J. Campbell 15F Domestic Ind
James 76M Farm laborer NJ
apparently James dies between 1860 and 1870 since he is not listed with William in the 1870 census.

This is a possible marriage for William
William F Loper to Francis Owen, 6 Nov 1849, Clermont, Ohio.
