I have copies of the newspaper articles you referred to, also. I have often wondered if they both really did die at the same time (December 1880), or if there was an error and the "Mr" should have read "Mrs", and the "man" should have read "woman". All three articles are from the "Martinsville Republican", but it could have been a mix-up. What do you think? Neither one of them showed up on the 1880 Federal Census, and that was to include "The Name of each Person whose place of abode on 1st day of June 1880, . . ."
