Leopold Lorentz (Polish) from Buffalo NY

I am looking for information about a deceased possible relative. Leopold Lorentz was of Polish ancestry. He finagled something through Canada that allowed him to fight in WWII. After the war he worked as an insurance agent. He needed dialysis later in life. I believe he died on a trip to Poland. I am hoping that he is a descendant of Jan Lorenz (Lorenc), brother of Adolf, from the area of Gostynin, north of Warsaw.

Thanks for your help.
