My Loring family lived in Darke County, Ohio, in the early 1800's (Samuel Loring laid out the village of Palestine).Since Nelson Loring was in the county around the same time,I have saved information on him even though I cannot yet tie him to "my" Lorings.
From your various postings on this and other message boards, I think you already have most of the information I have. One exception appears to be the following:
Apr. 1855 - Ann elizabeth LORING vs. Nelson W. LORING. Divorce. Filed 11-1-1854. Nelson W. Loring is now of Franklin County, Ohio where he is serving a prison term of three years as sentenced by the Criminal Court of Hamilton County, Ohio. Married in Butler County, Ohio her maiden name being Ann Elizabeth Smith. Children: Susan Loring aged 12 yrs., William Loring aged about 10 yrs., Sarah Loring aged 7 yrs and John Loring aged 4 yrs. (Chancery and Partition Records, Book N-1, p. 102)
The above is the exact text cut-and-pasted from an email to me from Val Adkins dated 01 August 1997.I have never seen the orginal documents.Val passed away in 1998, so we are on our own to check the orginal source documents for more information.
By the way, on another site I saw you posted a family group sheet that shows the parents of Nelson Loring as John LORING and Mary ACKER.Can you tell me where your source of that information?
