Lough/Low
I can see the name Lough sounding like "cow" spelled with an "L" thus spelled Low. But I have a hard time getting Loch or Locke to sound like Low.
Yes, Loch may have been americanized to Low, but that is ignoring that on the official document of 1707, Spesutie, Maryland, near the Gunpowder river, William Lowes name is spelled "LOUGH".
The name Lough appears all over Scotland & Ulster Ireland.
Are old mistakes causing us problems? I have found on line were one researcher will spell Nimrod Lows name Low, and another Lough. This same Nimrod Low is buried about 1 mile from my Nimrod Haddox in Dayton Ohio!!
I would like to correspond with someone working on the Lough/Low question. Thank you.
