Hi Sally,

Your reference to Scranton, PA caught my eye. As that is where I grew up.

My maternal grandmother was Mary Loughney, born sometime in the 1880s or 90s in Pittston, PA, between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. Her brother and sisters that I know of are Leo, Kathleen, Gertrude and Della. Della and Kathleen never married. Gertrude married a McHale, but had no children. Leo had a son Tommy, born late 1930s or early 1940s, who died in a boating accident while working as a counselor at summer camp. Leo also had a daughter, Mary, but I lost track of her over the years.

Do you have any more information on your Loughneys? I went to college with a Joe Loughney from the South Side of Scranton. We were not directly related, but he might be one of your family members.

Hope you have a Happy New Year.
Bob Meehan
