I don't know if this is of any use to you but I have a Mary Loughney living with my GGGrandmother, Mary Devine in 1861. She is 18 years of age and living at 6 Oak Street in Bury, Lancashire, and was born in Ireland. My Devines are from County Mayo, from a townland called Shammerbaun, this is between Swinford and Kilkelly, East Mayo, it would seem likely that Mary is from the same area. Also living next door (at 4 Oak Street) is a John Loughney - age 40, his wife, Ann, age 33, and children John - age 7, Thomas - age 3 and Patrick - age 3 months.

Interestingly, I also have a Catherine Loughney as a witness at the wedding of my GGUncle John Devine in 1886.

I don't appear (so far, but one can never be sure about this!) to have any Loughneys in my line, but hope the above is of some use.
