1650 Census notes on Nicolas Loux of Solbach
Louise Bialik Chrisman 5/19/03
According to the 1650 census of Solbach, there were SEVEN families living in that small farming village. Note: The name Colla is an early recorded spelling variation on the Christman family. Since the Solbach and Wildersbach communities were in the Alsace territorywhere ownership switched back and forth between the French and Germans, there were dramatic name changes: Loux - Lux, Christman - Colai - Colla, Mareschal - Schmid, Brintz - Bernhard, Claus - Collas [Christman], Bantza - Banset.
