Jesse Lovelady

In March 1822 sixty one (or two?) families migrated from NC (Rutherford Co. and Burke Co.) to settle Nacoochee Valley, GA (Habersham Co.) Among these was a Jesse Lovelady and family.

1850 Habersham Co., GA census doesn't show a Jesse Lovelady, but it does list a J. J. Lovelady (male age 14) living with Thomas and Susan Loudermilk. Also there is a John and Mary Lovelady living with an Elizabeth Johnson age 16 VA living with them. I am wondering if the Jesse Johnson appearing in Sumter Co. AL and Kemper Co. MS migrated from this family group.

One of my ancestors...Martha Haskins (1836 AL - d.aft 1890 census) first married a Thomas Johnson, who died probably in the Civil War. At the time they were living in Sumter Co., AL...just across the border from Kemper Co., MS. She remarried a Jesse Lovelady (b. abt 1803-6 d.1883 Kemper Co. MS).

I hope that someone can fill in some of the blanks for me.

Thank you.
Nan Glasgow
