Clinton Loveridge/ painter/New York

Several years ago I purchased a beautiful oil painting of sheep by a stream, painted by
Clinton Loveridge in the middle to late 1800s.

He was very short of stature and was a marksman in the Civil War. Any info on him would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Madalyn
