Some additional information was found at
http://www.cs.ncl.ac.uk/genuki/DEV/Branscombe/Census1891.1670.3.html :

In 1891, Robert is listed as an Agricultural Laborer, 50, and wife Maria, 48, a Lacemaker.

Living with them were son, James, age 14 - Carpenter's Apprentice and daughter, Minnie, 12, also a Lacemaker.

My family record indicates three more sons: Ernest(my GG), Louis, and Burgis.

Possible link to Louis at
http://www.cs.ncl.ac.uk/genuki/DEV/Honiton/Census1891.1670.13.html
Listed as a 22 yr old Laborer boarding with a Jane Dean in Honiton.
