Tom,
My name is Jerry Cherry. My maternal great-grandfather was Benjamin F. Lovin, who was an itinerant Baptist minister, who lived all over Oklahoma.Benjamin F. Lovin's father was Bailey Lovin of Mississippi (see below):
Bailey Lovin m. Martha
children:
Nancy O, b. 1842
Nathan M., b. 1844
Bailey O., b. 1845
Benjamin F., b. March 1848 (my great-grandfather)
Martha E., b. January 16, 1850
Nathan M. Lovin moved to Texas. He had a son named Bailey E. Lovin.Martha E. Lovin married William Burgamy and also moved to Texas. We have a postcard from Martha E. Lovin Burgamy to B. F. Lovin, dated 1908.
I do not know if your Bailey E. Lovin was Nathan's son.Perhaps, Bailey O. also had a son named Bailey E. Lovin.
I did find the following information:
Allen Cemetery, Allen, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma.
Lovin, Bailey E. October 15, 1866 - June 4, 1943
Lovin, Elizabeth S. March 18, 1873 - October 20, 1942
Lovin, Martin H. February 25, 1902 -
Lovin, Idell K. September 19, 1909 - December 12, 1960
Do you know if this is your ancestor? If so, it is also likely my line.
Do you know if your Bailey E. Lovin had sons?I have a family picture of two boys named Mart and Jack.On the back of the picture, it states "Uncle Ed and Aunt Lizzie's younger boys."The photographer was in Ada, Oklahoma.
We do not have a date, but it is an old picture.
Let me know what you think and if there is a connection, we can compare notes.
Regards, Jerry Cherry
