According to William Lowden's birth certificate he was illegitimate. Born to Louisa Lowden on March 15, 1857 in High Felling, Heworth, Gateshead, County Durham, England.
He married Isabel Priestley in Auckland, County Durham, England on December 8, 1877. Her father was William Priestley and mother was Elizabeth Aisbett. Isabel/Isabelle was born in 1856, Etherley Lane, County Durham, England.
Children born in England:
Elizabeth, William (died at age 4 in 1883), George (died at age 2 in 1883), Louisa Ann (my grandmother), George and Margaret Hannah.
Isabella arrived at the port of Philadelphia, PA, USA onboard the British Princess on November 21, 1887 with Elizabeth, Louisa, George and Margaret. I'm assuming that her husband William came ahead of them because he isn't listed. I've not be able to find anything on his arrival.
Children born in Pennsylvania:
Matthew, William, Isabelle, Jane and Mary.
The first place that I know of where they lived in the US was Robertsdale, PA. Aunt Mary was born in Tarrs so I know that they lived there at one point.
Isabelle's husband, William was murdered on July 4, 1899 at Hill Farm (near Dunbar), Fayette County, PA by Mark Thomas Hayes/Hays. Mr. Hays was hung at the Uniontown Courthouse in 1901.
Isabelle died of uterine cancer July 9, 1910 in Fayette County, PA. Both she and her husband are buried at the Franklin Cemetery, Dunbar, PA.
