Loya, Doner, Beaudry

Dear Forum,

I suspect that the hush hush of this family first and foremost is due to the Native blood that we all have family oral history of. We need to remember that this was not something that was acceptable in the time frame that we are talking about. Elizabeth Loya, daughter of Thomas Loya and Lucy Doner, seems to have been written out of the family history. Was her marriage out of the clan (into the Beaudry family, Catholics from Fr. Canada) her familial death toll? The Beaudry's also never spoke about these family matters. The rumor in our family is that my grandfather's grandmother was full blood Native. This would have been either Lucy Doner (his maternal grandmother) or Matilda Murray (his paternal grandmother). I think Lucy is a better candidate.

Blessings,
Heidi Agin
