Pat:

I don't know what the mystery is ... but I suspect there is one. I am confident that Elizabeth Louise Loya was born in Chazy, NY, June 17, 1871, the daughter of "Thomas Loya" and "Lucy Donner." I have the documents supporting these facts. I also know who she married, at least 14 of her children, when and where she died and what she died of. Why there is no record known to the rest of the family, I don't know. Was she given up for adoption/fostering? Was she cast out of the family or dis-owned? She married no later than 1888 (she would have been 16). Anyway, I don't know what the answer is right now. Was there another Thomas Loya and Lucy Donner in Chazy in 1871? I don't know right now ... and boy that would be a heck of a coincidence that they also would have a baby daughter on June 17th of that year.

I also know that Leo J. LaPine (birth name Robert Beaudry), who married Marion Swenor, was the natural son of Robert Beaudry, a son of Elizabeth Loya and her husband, Theodore Beaudry. Marion Swenor, of course, is the granddaughter of Frederick Swenor, who married Ellen Loya. Leo LaPine/Robert Beaudry's adoptive parent, Joseph LaPine was living with Elizabeth Loya and Theodore Beaudry in 1900. He was eighteeen that year, born in 1882 in Vermont. So, it would appear that - albeit forgotten - she was yet still interwoven with this family and it's allies.

I look forward to figuring this one out!
