Sorry to keep you hanging. I thought I was on the verge of the big breakthrough this summer and then school started and I have been too busy to even think about genealogy. I do have some info. but I have one piece that I am still working on before I post it. The one thing that I can tell you right now is that I have been researching Aunt Belle (Oakes). If you look at the earlier postings (121,125, 199,201,203)you will see that several people remember an Aunt Belle who was often at Mary's farm in Shoreham. She was a full-blood Indian, as was her husband (according to the postings). I figured that since we are having such a hard time finding Lucy Doner and Thomas Loya Sr's parents that I would try a different angle. If Belle Oakes was the Aunt of Mary, Thomas Jr., Emma, Elizabeth, and Ellen than she had to be the sister of either Thomas Sr. or Lucy Doner. So, to make a long story short, I followed Belle Oakes' "trail" this summer and found out that her maiden name was ...... Doner! So that puts an end to the speculation of which side the Indian blood comes from. As we all have suspected, it came from the Doners and not the Loyas. I have more info. but am trying to find facts to back up my "theories" before I post any more. Sorry to leave you in suspense, but a little suspense never hurt anyone, right? After all, we have all been working on this for so many years now, what's a couple more weeks going to matter? Take care.
P.S. Where's the rest of the crew? I haven't seen any postings from Dick, Betty, Louie, Cathy, Shirley or any of the others in a long time. Hope everything is OK
