Okay, so here goes the usual nonsense that we've found associated with this silly family. As I mentioned, the 1850 Census for Peru, N.Y. has household number 582, with the following information provided:

Thomas Doner, 42, M, laborer, born in Canada
Thomas, 16, M, laborer, born in Canada
Caymon, 12, M, born in Canada
Louisa, 10, F, born in Canada
Simon, 7, M, born in Canada
Lawrence, 5, M, born in Canada
Andrew, 2, M, born in N.Y.
Sophia, 39, F, born in Canada.

Question number one, is Sophia the mom? or a sister of the head of household -- she is listed last, not second ... what's with that?

Now comes the really fun part ... In Peru, N.Y., in the 1860 Census, I find the following family, the only Doner family that I found in the entire town, three of the kids are consistent, but the age of Thomas is not and who is Mary?, and if Belle and Lucia are part of this family, where are they? Where did Sophia go? Gads. On to Chazy.

Thomas Doner, 45, M, born in Canada, "D" (is this deceased?)
Mary Doner, 42, F, born in Canada
Simeon, 16, M, born in New York, born idiotic
"Lara" (is this Lawrence?), 14, M, born in New York, attended school
Andrew, 11, M, born in New York, attended school

With blessings in the continuing episodes ...
Heidi Agin
