Hi Casey--still doing LUDLUM research??
John Q Ludlum was my ggg-grandfather. I too have been wondering where did all the Ludlums go?My theory on the 1830 census is that one female 20-30 was Almira and one of the males 20-30 was John. They could have been parents of 1 girl and the four youngest boys. The older man could be the widower father of John and the rest of the older boys.So was the head of household the oldest man, in which case he would John. Then Almira's John would be John Jr. The birth place of Alma and John Q parents IS a problem. Perhaps they were cousins and John Q was an orphan. We know that by 1850, John and Alma were down in Fulton Co. They must have had a stop-over in Schuyler Co. between 1830 and 1850. The BARRONs were in Schuyler Co. I also found this:Jan 8, 1850 Estate, John LUDLUM, not yet settled. James ANDERSON, Admr. (Schuyler Co, Ill).
