I have learned that my great grandfather Herman Ludtke was born March 7, 1858 in "Schoenze, Germany" (Schoensee?) in the province of Posen. He was married in 1882/3 in Sangammon, County Illinois to Augusta Beck, from "Carlbach, Germany" (Karlsbach?), also in Posen. Herman died July 5, 1941 in Brewster, Nobles Co., Minnesota. He had no children named Myrtle, though he did have 9 children, including Charles, Emil, Fred, Martha, Pauline, Caroline/Carrie, Marie, and Helen. It seems pretty clear that we are not talking about the same Herman Ludtke. If you learn otherwise, I would of course be happy to know of it. I understand that Herman immigrated from Germany in 1882 with his brothers Gustave and _______?. Perhaps your Herman is a son of one of these.
