Hello Bob, I am confused which is a normal situation for me, I am afraid. On the 13th, you wrote "Just today I found that George was the son of Richard who was the so of Anthony.Richard married Elizabeth Smith in 1790.I am not positive about this information, etc. Then on the 16th, you wrote The limited information that I have tends to indicate that Georg's father was William born abt. 1779 and his father was Joseph b bt. 1759.
Jeanette Lumpkin ancestry which has been proven is as follows:Jeanette's parents were Elwod Clyde Probst and Dorothy May Lumpkin whose father was Astolpho Lumpkin son of Robert Balcombe Lumpkin son of Hiram P. Lumpkin son of George Lumpkin and Abigail Lucinda Lumpkin. This is proven.Jeanette believes that George Lumpkin was the son of Eliabeth Smith and Richard Lumpkin son of unknown and Anthony Lumpkin. On her family group sheet for Elizabeth Smith and Richard Lumpkin, Jeanette wrote "not proven." But circumstantial evidence indicates they were the parents of George Lumpkin. Will set out that evidence.
Regarding the William Lumpkin, son of Anthony Lumpkin died 1811 The problem with the William Lumpkins of North Carolina at the same time, Anthony is in North Carolina, there at least two involved with Anthony. Two entirely different signatures.I am going back to e-mail you and send you my North Carolina and Virginia Lumpkin compilations and then back here with the information I have regarding the two sons of Anthony Lumpkin d.1811 -Richard and William.
Before I forget, it was not this George Lumpkin who purchased items from Anthony Lumpkin's in Granville Co. NC.He would have been too young. There is a George in Granville Co. NC who served in the War of 1812 and I believe it was he who purchased the items. You will see more about this in my NC compilation.Later.Carol
