Carol, here's another oddball coincidence. A John Hendrick of Charlotte County bought land in Charlotte County, Virginia 1783 from Robert Lumpkin, heir at law of Moore Lumpkin late of Charlotte County deceased, and Ann Lumpkin widow of Moore Lumpkin. (Charlotte County DB 5, p40)
John Hendrick and his wife Judith sold 450a three weeks later described as purchased of John Venable and Moore Lumpkin. (DB 5, p38) Whether this is the same land or not is unclear, but it was in the part of Charlotte County which was transferred into Appomatox County in 1845.
For a variety of reasons, it is unlikely that this was the same John Hendrick as the one who fathered Druscilla. Rather he was more likely a distant cousin who lived in Cumberland previously and Buckingham/Campbell subsequently.
I mention it because (a) it's one of those oddball genealogical coincidences and (b) I found no clues on this board as to who this Moore Lumpkin of Charlotte County was.
