In the middle 1950's, Robert Clifton 'Tony' Lumpkin,PhD, was the headmaster of my school, "Woodcastle School for Boys"; Somerville Road, Liberty Corner, Bernardsville-Basking Ridge, New Jersey. He died Pensacola, Florida. His second wife widow, Mrs. Mary C.Lumpkin, died February 18, 1986, age 82. His first wife was Mrs. Green of Baltimore. His brother was Bill Lumpkin, MD, of Towson, Md. Their father was a physician professor at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore. The last time I saw Tony in Pensacola, he said the first Lumpkin in 1600's/1700's America, carried his own finished and engraved tombstone down the ship's accommodation ladder; as Lumpkin was afraid there was no one in America, who could make a proper tombstone. Would like to know Tony's Lumpkin lineage?
