If Tong is a Swedish name, it would have been spelled Tång in Sweden.
I have already posted some information about Andrew on the Sweden forum.
I only see two Tång hits from Hälsingland province on the Emibas CD, made from registrations with the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country. It is about 75% complete.
Only one left in the same time period as Anders, however, and this Anna was a married woman. (The other Tång left in 1910 with a destination of Saskatchewan.)

It is likely, however, that your Tong family left Sweden with just their patronymic names and only later changed to that surname. Swedes LOVE to change names.
To research these people in the U.S., try the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center. They have a website but their extensive collection of records is NOT online. The Swenson Center has records which are difficult or even impossible to find elsewhere. Many of us have learned a great deal from this fantastic archive.
